Oakland Legal Tint Levels

KNOW THE LAW – STAY COMPLIANT

Oakland has specific laws about window tint darkness (Oakland Vehicle Code Section 26708). We ensure all our installations are 100% compliant!

FRONT WINDSHIELD:

Only a 4-inch strip at the top is allowed to be tinted
OR tint up to the AS-1 line (marked on windshield)
No other tinting allowed on front windshield

FRONT SIDE WINDOWS:

MUST allow MORE than 70% of light to pass through
Only very light tint is legal
Legal options: 70% or 80% tint (very light)

BACK SIDE WINDOWS:

ANY darkness level is permitted
Can be very dark "limo tint" if desired
No restrictions on light transmission

REAR WINDOW:

ANY darkness level is permitted
ONLY if your vehicle has both side mirrors
If one side mirror is missing/broken, rear window can't be dark

⚠️ PENALTIES FOR ILLEGAL TINT:

Oakland law enforcement CAN pull you over for illegal tint and issue a fix-it ticket. Don't risk it – we keep you legal!
